About
Honey wine, or “mead”, has been produced for thousands of years and is believed to be one of the first fermented beverages created by man. The honey bee has been domesticated since the time of the pharaohs, both for their honey and for their help pollinating crops. Long before humans discovered how crops were pollinated, they realized that their farms were much more productive with bees around. In fact, many crops could not be grown without the honey bee. Today the honey bee is the most numerous of all domesticated species on earth. Though the interdependence between bees and humans has only grown stronger over the past few centuries, the secrets of honey mead were lost.
Our first release is called Brooklyn Buzz. Made locally from New York State artisnal honey, our honey wine is dry with honey flavors and floral aromas.
At Manhattan Meadery, we believe in sustainability through local products. Our wine is produced locally from local ingredients and is only available locally.
Appreciate the bee: it took approximately 2.6 million stops by a bee to a flower to make each bottle.
